Food will leave you speechless it is so good! I don’t eat pork and wanted some Turkey barbecue real bad so I came here and wasn’t disappointed. I got a pint of mac and cheese for later to share with my son. I should have gotten more. The cabbage was well seasoned. I washed my plate down with a half and half of the pineapple lemonade and blueberry lemonade. Look no further for a good home cooked food. The smell of the food alone had me eating in my car a nibble before I headed home.
This is the real deal. As the lady behind the counter says 'it's all seasoned right, here.' All the classics for you to tour - BBQ chicken, vinegar BBQ turkey, whiting, catfish, shrimp. Sides include a destination-worthy mac & cheese and a simply sublime Brunswick stew. Make sure you get there early - unlike myself - to enjoy their brisket which was out of stock once I arrived. And be sure to finish it off with one of their real fruit lemonades overflowing with whole fresh fruit. Wow. Thank you, backyard BBQ pit for introducing me to the real North Carolina.

Unbelievable. Down home and cooked with love the old fashioned way. Turnip greens, candied yams, mac and cheese, the ribs are over the top delicious. What a wonderful and friendly spot.
I had the shrimp dinner with Mac and cheese and collard greens greens. Let me tell you the good was so good and the his puppies I should of ordered more hush puppies. The shrimps taste just like how my mom fry hers. I loved everything on my plate and this was my first time going I will be back, I’m so glad I found a spot because I’m from New York and I couldn’t find a good soul good spot since I got here but now I have. This is my new go to spot.
Delicious food and nice staff. The restaurant isn't anything too special but who cares with food this delicious! Definitely worth checking out.

The food was great, but the people working there are the true stars! Really friendly and helpful. I went in and said "it's my first time here and I don't know what I'm doing" - they gave me samples and helped me figure out what to order. Needless to say I loved what I ordered (Eastern NC style pork and a brisket plate with Mac & Cheese and Brunswick Stew). The BBQ was wetter than other places I've been to, but delicious nonetheless
I was told I wouldn't be able to find good ribs in the Carolinas, but I did. They keep a good variety of meat on the ready, and excellent sides. Will be visiting again on my next trip.
This is the best food in several states! I travel 100% with work and I I'm within 8 hours, I alter my plans/driving route to come here. The food is magnificent and the folks that work there are phenomenal! I have been close enough in over a year, but I'll be there in 7 days!

My favorite BBQ joint in the Triangle. BBQ is great, just a tad bit too moist but otherwise perfect Eastern NC style. Hushpuppies are amazing. Sides are all great. Prices are great. It's definitely a hole in the wall and doesn't have any ambience for dining in, but if you're looking for some fantastic BBQ take-out and a bang for your buck, this is the spot.
I really enjoyed my stop at Backyard BBQ Pit! The meal was well worth the wait. This is by far the best carolina chopped bbq I've ever had and the Mac and cheese is the best I've ever had served to me at a restaurant. The staff was friendly and did a great job of managing the high volume of customers. I can't wait to return when I'm in the Raleigh-Durham area. Keep up the great work!!!
Do not let the looks of this place fool you because the food is very good. I had the turkey bar b que and had to get more to bring home for the next day. This should be on you list of places to try out!

The best hush puppies in Durham. Great portion sizes for the price. The food is always slamming and if you can get in before the lunch rush, it's a quick in & out. The service is always friendly and feels like going to family's house. 10/10 recommend for homestyle soul food.
We had the bbq ribs baked and fried chicken Mac n cheese cabbage okra and hush puppies. Very good soul food. Seasoned and hot. Good customer service very friendly crew down home hospitality. Will definitely be going back again
Food was delicious. I had the baked chicken it was seasoned to perfection. The candied yams and macaroni was awesome. Hush puppies are the BEST. Definitely home cooked authentic southern dishes. Had lots of options on the menu. Portions were very fulfilling and prices were great. Definitely try it out.

Food is amazing! I got brisket, Mac n cheese, & yams. The yams had a filmy consistency which made me not eat them but upon first taste they were delicious. Mac was good && brisket was tender, flavorful and very tasty. Customer service was great. I will definitely be back!
